ABOUT
Singer-Songwriter-Violinist
Shawna Rae is a singer-songwriter-violinist from Cleveland, TN. Her music “tells the story”, layering poetry, scripture, and metaphor with folk-classical violin.
Working as a session player, performer and recording artist, she brings dazzling creativity to collaborative projects while also excelling as a solo performer at house concerts, churches and other venues. She is passionate about cultivating authentic creativity and worship through meaningful, rich music that opens the heart to hope, beauty and meaning.
Receiving her first violin lesson at the age of 3, music became a part of her daily life as a child. Winning awards and captivating audiences from a young age, she experienced the shared joy that is found when music brings people together. During a life-changing evening in Costa Rica while on a missions trip, she discovered her love for singing and eventually would begin to write as well. Her self-produced debut EP “Of Dreams and Dust” was released in 2019. Drawing from influences such as Rich Mullins and Andrew Peterson, her songs tell the story of hope, pain, and the meaning of life. Her writing is also inspired by the great outdoors, reading, scripture (especially the Psalms) and daily life. When not performing, she can be found practicing, teaching her beloved violin students, or living life as an adventurer and entrepreneurial artist.
